CEO, Richard Lilleystone was in Boracay, Philippines to show his personal support for the Sama-Sama Cup,
a grassroots football event created to energise and empower gifted but marginalised young people
from around the world. In partnership with UK based social enterprise, FundLife and Philippine NGO Futbol Sa Kalye, the event provided a fun and friendly platform for people across the globe to play for a much more serious aim – Global Equal Opportunity.
Gazasia was the Title Sponsor of the 2nd annual Sama-Sama (Tagalog for ‘together’) Cup which took place last month in Boracay, Aklan, Philippines. Other global sponsors included Mitre, Havianas and Shangri-La Resort and Spa Philippines. The event was covered by Sports Unlimited, a programme of TV network ABS-CBN.
Despite a pre-event tropical monsoon, the event was a huge success and will be remembered for the journey of the Futkalero’s from Tondo. After securing complimentary flights and accommodation to Boracay the boys surprised everyone with their performances to reach the final, and epitomised the spirit of the event through their positive and infectious character and football ability.
The Sama-Sama Cup is still an early stage initiative and Gazasia looks forward to supporting its growth and contributing directly to the empowerment of people through both its technology and community-driven social projects.
Amongst those pictured with Richard are Aboitiz Senior VP Juan Alfonso, FundLife Director and Sama-Sama Cup Founder, Marko Kasic and Futbol sa Kalye Founder and CEO, Peter Amores.
Our projects aim to improve the environment in which we live and work, so the health, education and development of local communities is inextricably linked with Gazasia's philosophy and purpose.
