Sustainable aviation fuel powers a one-hour regional flight in Sweden
Sustainable aviation fuel produced by Neste was used to power a Braathens Regional Airlines (BRA) ATR 72-600 turboprop on a one-hour regional flight from Halmstad City airport to Stockholm Bromma airport in Sweden. According to Neste, this aircraft has the best environmental credentials, and this was “the first time that every element in the flight management process on a regional flight has been optimised to keep carbon emissions to a minimum and achieve the ‘Perfect Flight’.
The fuel supplied by Air BP will produce up to 80 percent fewer emissions over its life-cycle compared with conventional jet fuel and is produced from non-palm renewable and sustainable raw materials.
“BRA’s Head of Sustainability highlighted the importance of ready access to sustainable aviation fuel in sufficient quantities and at the right price, and we believe our program will play a part in achieving this goal.” Richard Lilleystone, GazAsia CEO.
