UK announces a net zero target for greenhouse gas emission by 2050

The UK government is changing its target for GHG emission to a net zero goal by 2050.

The UK government is changing its target for GHG emission from an 80% reduction by 2050, to a net zero goal by 2050, adopting the recommendation of its advisory Committee on Climate Change. Having led the world to wealth through fossil fuels in the industrial revolution, Theresa May announced in the House of Commons that the UK ‘must now lead the world to a cleaner, greener form of growth.’

“This will require a huge increase in the provision of clean energy, notably for the transport sector, and our program can help deliver this through sourcing and supplying sustainable biofuels for the aviation and heavy goods industries.” Richard Lilleystone, GazAsia CEO
